Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom offers a much wider scale of enemies and dangers than Breath of the Wild. This game is in fact much harder than its predecessor. If you have already set a foot into the Depths of Tears of the Kingdom, you have probably already encountered a new phenomenon that is both dangerous and utterly nerve-racking.
Gloom, a new mysterious matter that is to be found in the Depths lowers your maximum hearts, making it impossible to recover to your original strength.
But if you have been damaged by Gloom, fear not! In this guide, we will tell you how to recover the cracked hearts, caused by this weird new threat, lurking in the Depths of Hyrule.

How To Heal From Gloom In Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
When standing on top of this mysterious black and reddish material or when getting hit by infected enemies, Gloom can cause damage and reduce your maximum health by literally breaking your hearts. Grey hearts, that have been destroyed by Gloom can't simply recover like they normally would. To restore these broken hearts, there are several things you can do.

The easiest solution is to find a nearby Lightroot and stepping foot beneath it. Lightroots are the fast travel points in the Depths and can also be used for returning to the surface area.

Another way of restoring Gloom damaged hearts is to just fast travel back to the surface. It seems like this effect of Gloom has no power on surface level, so just teleporting yourself to a surface shrine, will heal you from Gloom. But be aware that this will only remove the effect, and not restore your health.

But what if you don't want to leave the underground area, and also can't spot a Lightroot anywhere near you? There is a solution for this. Did you ever find Sundelions in Hyrule? This flower might be quite rare and hard to find, but it can be used in cooking to prepare dishes that cancel out the gloom effect.
