Modern Warfare 3 Zombies was confirmed. And it will be very much like Outbreak from Black Ops Cold War. Let's see what we know so far.
Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone are in a tough spot right now, with a lot of players getting bored and moving on to different games. With how things are right now, many people are eagerly waiting for Modern Warfare 3 to be released later this year and hopefully revive the franchise once more.
Can the next entry in the series safe the franchise? Did Sledgehammer games learn from the mistakes Infinity Ward did? The MW3 reveal in Warzone was a big success and the new Modern Warfare 3 gameplay trailer is pretty awesome, but we still don't know all of the mechanics and how it will be different from MW2.
Well, at least one thing is for sure now: we will get Zombies again in Modern Warfare 3!
MW3 Zombies Mode Will Be Open-World Extraction Survival
The latest marketing stunt of Activision was to give out a phone number, that players can text on their phones to get cryptic messages about the new MW3. While this didn't lead to any major reveals yet, it recently confirmed a Zombie mode for MW3.
When players text “Zombies” to that number, they will get a short sound file as an answer that seems to be pretty obvious:

The growling of a Zombie can probably be taken as confirmation, I mean what else could this be, right? And yes, it was. Shortly after that, Treyarch and the official Call of Duty account posted another confirmation:

We already assumed that MW3 Zombies will be much like the Outbreak mode from Black Ops Cold War and this tweet finally confirmed it. MW3 Zombies will be developed by Treyarch, the CoD studio behind the Black Ops series, and it will be "an open-world PvE extraction survival Zombies experience against some of the biggest enemies in Call of Duty history".
This does sound very much like Outbreak, where you would also drop into a very big map with your squad, complete certain missions, loot and upgrade weapons and then extract again. However, there is one new bit of information, that's different from Outbreak in BOCW. The tweet says "Team up with other squads vs. massive hordes", which means that in MW3 Zombies your squad will not be the only one on the map.
This sounds like a mix of Outbreak and DMZ, but apparently without any PvP-action. We recon it will be a huge map like in DMZ with several squads dropping in and fighting their way across the map against hordes of zombies while completing missions.
