Many don't know it, but you can play games on Netflix. The streaming giant expanded their portfolio in recent years and started to offer games, including some great titles like Into the Breach. We will show you what games are available on Netflix and how you can play them.
Yes, Netflix has video games. This still seems to be either a big secret, or something people just don't care about. The streaming service started to offer games on their platform last year, and even acquired some development studios. Some of these games are really good as well, counting highlights like Into the Breach and Moonlighter among them. The games also don't have microtransactions or ads and just come with your Netflix subscription, without any extra fees.
All of that is great, and Netflix' foray into gaming is becoming better and better. But that doesn't seem to have paid off yet since no one is playing them. And I'm here to tell you that this is a shame.
A recent report by Apptopia revealed that less than 1% of Netflix subscribers are playing the games on the service on a daily basis. Big yikes. That translates to around 1.7 Million people, which still sounds like a lot. But despite crashing numbers, Netflix still has over 200 Million subscribers. That really puts things into perspective. No one is using Netflix games, but if you have a subscription, you should definitely try it out.
Netflix Games: How Do You Play Them
It's thankfully quite simple to play games on Netflix. While there are a few quirks attached to this, you shouldn't have any trouble to get gaming. Just follow these three steps:
- Open the Netflix app on your smartphone or tablet. You should see a "Games" tab at the bottom of the screen (Android), or you can scroll down just a bit to see it (iOS). Click that to get to the selection of games.
- Click on the game you want to play and then click on "Get Game". This will take you to your device's store (Google Play Store for Android or App Store for iOS). Download the game.
- Now you can either start the game through the Netflix app or via its own executable on your device. After the first start, the game will ask you what Netflix profile you want to use, and it will keep you logged in for that profile.
And that's it. At first, it feels weird that it takes you from Netflix to the storefront, but that little quirk doesn't actually hinder the accessibility too much. After you downloaded the game, you can start it from your phone like any other app. Easy and nifty, bosch.

That's... alright. Of course there are your typical mobile titles, simple games or trashy titles that might be good to keep you entertained for a commute or two. And no, I don't know either why there are two Stranger Things games. But there are some certified bangers in this selection as well.
The best games are probably Moonlighter and Into the Breach. Both are among the best indie games in the last few years. Breach especially is just amazing, one of the best strategy and puzzle games of all time. I love it and I highly recommend that you check out the fantastic mobile version as well.
Netflix wants to extend the number of games to 50 until April 2023 which would be close to doubling it. Still, the service, of course, can't quite compete with Apple Arcade or Xbox Game Pass. But it's worth a shot if you're subscribed to Netflix already. And over 200 Million people still are, even if the service is getting criticized more and more. So, chances are good that you also still have a Netflix sub running and if you do, definitely give these games a try.
